MONTEGO
BAY R.
ARRINGTON Traveler Review |
We
are so grateful your company offered the
Plantation Tour in Jamaica. Thank you. We
elected to take this tour versus a shore
excursion provided via our cruise ship. We
were blessed. We left the island knowing so
much about the people, culture, and land. The
tour guides were wonderful. Hugging all the
precious children, listening to their songs,
and watching our children play in their school
yard was a memory never to be forgotten. This
tour was a life changing experience for us.
Thank you, again!

JAMAICA'S
BEST PLANTATION TOUR
Information |
|
 |
|
|
This
tour will help create a deep understanding of the Jamaican way of
life. Enjoy a 45-minute air-conditioned coach ride from Montego Bay
through Jamaica's scenic countryside, over mountains, and through
valley's, villages, and lush tropical foliage. An expert tour guide
will explain the details of the tropical plants and trees you
encounter during your trip. You will pass through sugarcane,
pineapple, coffee and banana plantations. Many people live in the
interior, so you will travel through a number of little villages.
Upon arriving at a plantation, you will be served a delicious
Jamaican country-style breakfast, served in the comfort of the
plantation's pavilion house. After breakfast, you will take a guided
walk (or ride a bus) to Seaford Town, one mile away, and the village
of St. Leonard's on a lazy country road.
A sugar mill in the village is a point of interest and tasting the
sugar cane is encouraged. Also you will visit the local school,
where the children will entertain you with their charming songs and
our national anthem. Then on to the German Village established by
German immigrants in 1835. See the majestic old Sacred Heart Mission
and view the displays at the Seaford Town Historical Mini-Museum.
The walk should create an appetite, so
luckily, a DELICIOUS, ROASTED PIG and JAMAICAN BUFFET LUNCHEON will
be awaiting you when you return to the Plantation House. The lunch
also features a choice of homemade lemonade (fantastic!), shandy
(half lemonade, half beer), or a rum punch, all served with island
specialties (other meat/fish dishes on request) in the true Jamaican
tradition and hospitality. The 60-pound pig is prepared and roasted
in Jamaican brick ovens right next to the Plantation House, and will
be served with 12 exotic Jamaican vegetables prepared in the
plantation kitchen.
Following the luncheon, you will stroll around or relax on the
front porches with your dessert and coffee and listen to the
delightful melodic music played just for you by our very own
plantation Calypso Band.
We take you back along the border of the famous and sometimes
foreboding Cockpit Country, the land of the Maroons. Breath-taking
views of deep valley floors, all but inaccessible due to the sheer
cliff-like mountains surrounding them. Hear the fascinating history
of the Maroons, descendants of the runaway slaves. |

A
nature lover's paradise. Towering cliffs, limestone caves,
underground rivers, and lush forest. Less than an hour from
the glistening blue waters and sparkling white sand beaches of
Jamaica's north shore, lies an enticing nature lover's paradise
known as the Cockpit Country.
Rich in history and culture, this region of Jamaica is riddled with
towering cliffs, limestone caves, underground rivers and flowing
waterfalls. The dense limestone forest, full of hiking trails, is
home to exotic plants, birds and reptiles. Many of them are found no
where else in the world.
Experienced, professionally trained local guides will assure your
safety as you explore the forest and underground world of the
Cockpit Country.
Your guide will take you to a lush area of Cockpit Country where you
will explore a cool maze-like cave. This cave provides for easy
exploration but offers many interesting formations and chambers
throughout its mile and a half passage. The guides are experienced.
They grew up on the island and will lead you through the narrow
channels and across underground rivers for an experience you will
never forget.
As you emerge, a little wet and a bit dirty, you can enjoy a
cleansing swim in the pools of the Mouth River cascades.
Lunch today is BUSH COOKING! While you are splashing in the water,
the scent of Jamaica will work its way over to you, as your meal of
traditional Jamaican foods is being prepared. Cooked on an open fire
at the location where your tour culminates, you can choose from
traditional dishes including ackee and saltfish, curry chicken, stew
peas, breadfruit, roast yam, and natural fruit juices. There is
something delicious for everyone |

Meet
Herman, our pet crocodile, as he is hand-fed. (Not your hand, we
hope.) Discover the beauty of the South Coast with
approximately a 1-1/2 hour boat tour. Launch up Jamaica's largest
navigable river and through Jamaica's largest wetland area, the
Black River lower morass. The tour takes you six miles up the river
and back, during which a running commentary is given by your
captain/tour guide on both the ecology and a little history of the
area.
Over 100 species of birds have been recorded in the Black River
morass and many are seen during this trip. The endangered American
crocodile (C.actus) inhabits the area and sightings are very, very
frequent. Just remember not to let your hands drag in the water to
attract them!
The wetland vegetation is of special interest with three species of
Mangrove, Thatch Palms, Royal Palms, and freshwater swamp forest
dominating.
On this tour, you will also travel through Montpelier, and see the
Ferris White House and the Water Wheel. Rather than tie you into a
set lunch menu with a corresponding cost, your guide will direct you
to one of many choices for local food. Personally, we would be
looking for the jerk chicken!
A not-to-be-forgotten experience. |

A
challenging 18 holes on a Robert Trent Jone's course. Consistently
ranked one of the top golf courses in the world, the classic Robert
Trent Jones course is sculpted out of the foothills of the western
Jamaican coastline, and has an international reputation for being
challenging and breathtaking. A member of Jack Nicklaus’
"Great Golf Resorts of the World" Half Moon has hosted a
number of prestigious tournaments including the Jamaica Open Golf
Championship, the Dunhill Cup Final of the Americas, and the Red
Stripe Pro-Am.
With 7,119 yards of difficult driving areas, plenty of bunkering,
and great undulating greens, this course puts up a challenge. Among
its unforgettable holes is the 535-yard third hole and the
relatively short, 362-yard fourth hole. With four tee markers on
every hole, scratch golfers and beginners will find an enjoyable
challenge as they tackle the Robert Trent Jones’ design and the
ever-present Caribbean trade winds. Golf 18 holes.
