CANOPY, CAVE, AND JUNGLE TOUR IN THE WILDS OUTSIDE OF IXTAPA

This tour will take you to the edge - where you'll be amazed, excited and pushed to your physical limits.

Our guided walk through the nearby jungle brings you face to face with a tropical temporal rain forest and the plants and animals that form part of its ecosystem. These plants and animals include army ants, leaf cutting ants, parrots, wild turkeys, hummingbirds and others, several species of protected and endangered wildcats as well as literally hundreds of other types of animals and plants found only in this part of the world. Amazing!

One reason for this walk is to get up to our zipline Jungle Canopy activity, which is incredible and gives you an up-front and personal view of the forest viewed from expertly crafted platforms constructed high in the forest canopy. From these platforms you will literally get a bird's eye view of life among the jungle treetops as well as see some of the most breath taking views. And that's not the only breath taking part!! In order to get from platform to platform, we have had experts design a series of cables that you clip onto and zip from platform to platform while remaining high aloft in the jungle canopy. It's an experience you will never forget.

A tour into a local cave is an added bonus with its stalactites and stalagmites. Several geologists from around the world have looked at this cave and been taken aback by the unusual and spectacular colored and crystallized formations and flowstone curtains. Another unique feature of the cave are the detailed carvings from the Tazascan Indians, believed to be approximately 500 years old. You'll also see bats, and sometimes, even an owl or two.

CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS TOUR OF IXTAPA - ZIHUATANEJO
We mix a museum with a picturesque village to show you the real story.  This tour will take you first to the Museo Arqueologia de la Costa Grande in Zihuatanejo. This small museum details the archaeological history of the Costa Grande with maps, drawings, small dioramas, and artifacts. They will illustrate the development of local cultures from early hunting and gathering to agriculture and now urbanization.

You can absorb all this information as you travel outside of Zihuatanejo for a 40-minute ride to Petatlan. The Church "Cristo Jesus de Petatlan", a main highlight, is situated in a lush setting surrounded by trees adjoining the town square, gold market and street market in downtown Petatlan. Though not a historical or colonial style, the church boasts some beautiful stained glass and well manicured grounds. People travel from many miles away in search of miracles which are believed to be performed for the faithful in this Catholic Church.

The Gold Market in Petatlan is directly accross the street from the main entrance to the church. These friendly people sell a wide variety of gold jewelry by the gram but be prepared to bargain to get the best price available.

An interesting stop will be made at a Mexican cemetery, where your guide will share the customs of burial.

Lunch at a well-known local restaurant will include grilled chicken, salad, and a drink. Try not to nap on your return ride as we found the roads here to be as interesting as the cities, dotted with vendors selling all types of products in the tiny villages.
