Explore
the remote Kona coast... its caves and lava
tubes...and the Place of Refuge. Plan on boarding
a rigid-hull inflatable boat as your raft. This is
the perfect means of transportation for this tour
as its design absorbs bumps better than a regular
rubber raft. The fact that you will have a group
of 12 total also sets this tour apart from others.
The crew is terrific and will get you close to the
coastline with the best job of narrating on these
waters.
Your journey will take you along the coastline and
will poke the boat into several "sea
caves" while explaining how they are formed.
You will have two opportunities to snorkel, one at
the Captain Cook Monument and then beyond to
Honaunau, which is the Place of Refuge. In each
case, your crew will take you snorkeling in spots
that are not nearly as crowded as others.
On your return ride, you will be able to relax as
the guides take their time bringing you back to
reality. You will explore the sea caves and lava
tubes as you return.
This company has multiple rafts as well as one
larger. If you have a larger group, you can make
your booking request and we will respond with
information on how the group will be handled. |

As
part of a small group, you can become up close and
personal with marine life. The afternoon varies
just a little from the morning trip. The main
difference is that there is only one snorkel stop.
The custom-designed inflatable boats are adventure
crafts complete with biminis covering a portion of
the boats. They are sized purposely to keep the
tours small and more personal and also to allow
the visitor top quality viewing.
As you travel along the historic Kona coast
enroute to Kealakekua Bay, your guide will share
his knowledge of historical sites as well as
exploring sea caves and lava tubes up close! Many
birds make their homes in the pukas (small caves)
on the pali (cliff) along the coastline and may be
seen nesting.
You will snorkel this premier Marine Sanctuary at
Captain Cook's Monument in Kealakekua Bay viewing
many species of reef fish, eels, turtles and
corals. This is perhaps Hawaii's finest snorkel
site. The name "Kealakekua" means
"Pathway to God" and the Mana (spiritual
power or energy) can be felt here by all. It is
truly a wonder of nature and by far the most
beautiful coral reef in the state. The large bay
is so situated so as to ensure calm (lake-like)
waters year round.
The bay is also a historical area, having been the
dramatic backdrop for the great explorer, Capt.
James Cook, as his place of discovery of the Big
Island and a short time later, on February 14,
1779, met his fate on this shore.
The adventure continues as we head out to find the
dolphins and whales. You will learn about whales,
dolphins and other ocean wildlife while observing
them in their natural habitat. |

It
is an experience in itself to see the terrain of
this island, and the waterfalls in abundance! This
half-day adventure into the Kohala countryside
will bring you into the heart of sugarcane
plantations and waterfalls. The ride itself is a
journey up the Kona/Kohala coastline where over
lava flows from Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea and the
Kohala Mountains. You will get to see the towns of
Hawi and Kapa'au, where the statue of King
Kamahameha the First is located. A short stop at
the Kohala Mule Station offers a wonderful view of
the coastline before you head onto the short but
bumpy old cane road to the trailhead.
Once you arrive, your naturalist guide will take
you on an easy walk on a 1.5 mile loop trail which
will take you back to the 1900s. The plantation
owners began the contruction of the Kohala Ditch
Trail at that time because they needed to get
water to the sugar cane fields. As you take this
walk, you can imagine how difficult it must have
been to blast through the solid rock to form this
path of irrigation which stretches over 40 miles.
This is an easy path suitable for every age. There
are two areas, though, that have about 10 steps
each so you must be able to handle them.
Your guide is going to turn you on to the history
of ancient Hawaii as you pass by an old taro farm
site. Waterfalls in abundance will offer perfect
pictures and you will be able to refresh yourself
in the water at the last one. |

A
great captain. A beautiful boat. A wonderful way
to spend your day in Kona. Join us for one of
Kona's most exclusive and true sailing adventures.
Sail along the beautiful Kona coast and snorkel in
the clear, blue Kona waters. Get hands-on sailing
experience or just kick back and relax. See
dolphins, turtles, whales and many colorful fish.
We search for these graceful sailboats which is
not an easy task. This one is lovely and will make
you instantly comfortable. It will be difficult to
overlook the pride its owner has displayed in its
maintenance.
Enjoy this 32' sailboat. Since we take only a
maximum of 6 people, you'll feel special and know

Explore
the remote Kona coast... its caves and lava
tubes...and great snorkeling too. You will find,
as we did, that this area is the prettiest part of
Kona. This experience is also the most enjoyable.
Your vehicle will be a comfortable rigid hull
inflatable raft, a vessel that has become very
popular for touring. It allows you to travel with
smaller groups into smaller places. To access the
caves, these rafts do not have any shade on board
and we suggest that you wear a hat and a good
sunscreen, one without oil. For your convenience,
snorkel ladders make your entry and return from
the water very easy.
Expect a fun run along the rugged coastline
between Keauhou and Kealakekua Bays and then enjoy
about 1 hour of snorkeling at the Captain Cook
Monument. You do not need to know how to swim or
snorkel for this trip. Flotation vests are
available and snorkel instruction is gladly given.
You will also explore sea caves and lava tubes. If
you're lucky you might see some dolphins, an
occurrence on over half the tours that go out.
Whales may also be seen during Humpback season
from December to April.
After snorkeling, beverages and tropical snacks
are served. |

This
is Kona's only real sailing catamaran. You'll love
relaxing and soaking up the sun. Our
destination is Pawai Bay. It should take about an
hour. This means that we'll have lots of time to
relax on board, listen to the sea and swim in its
wonderfully warm waters.
Pawai Bay has an excellent variety of tropical
reef fish and dramatic terrain, with ledges,
caves, shallow shelves and steep drop-offs; and
all coral encrusted lava formations. Frequent
visitors to the bay are manta rays (up to 10 feet
across!), spotted eagle rays, and green sea
turtles. Depths vary from 3-4 feet on the shallow
ledges to blue water where the bottom disappears
at 100 feet. Average is about 18 feet.
We specialize in non-swimmers and first time
snorkelers because we think everybody should get
in the water and experience Kona's spectacular
underwater beauty. We have excellent flotation
devices, a wide assortment of quality silicone
masks and snorkels (including prescription lens
masks for the near sighted), rubber fins from size
0 to 14. Our first mate will give you a 7-10
minute instruction/demonstration on the use of the
gear and do's and dont's at Pawai Bay.

Fulfill
your dreams with the perfect location and personal
service for a first dive. Because of the calm
waters on the west coast of Kona, the diving is
just excellent. Another reason that makes this a
perfect place to begin this long-term hobby are
the warm waters which attract fish, coral and
great divers. It's 75 degrees at its coldest in
February and 82 degrees during warm October.
Visibility of 100+ feet is common. You just can't
miss when the uncontrollable forces all work in
your favor.
Its reputation as a place for those who don't like
crowds is what attracted us to this PADI dive
shop. The staff was friendly and helpful and the
owner is both a businessman and an excellent
diver. This introduction to scuba will have a
minimum of 2 dive students and a maximum of 4.
Your dive will be a 2-tank dive and your course
lessons will be given while aboard the boat.
All your equipment is provided except a towel.
Everything else will be handled by others. Don't
forget your underwater camera though, to take home
those memories. |

Cook Monument at Kealakekua Bay, a beautiful
marine preserve.
You and your small group will select the second
site together with the help of the divemaster.

Call
it magnificent or call it breathtaking but
whatever you call it, enjoy the beauty of Kona.
We will begin the journey by visiting two of
Kona’s gorgeous white sand beaches. We then
proceed south to witness the marvelous scenic view
of Kealakekua Bay from the famous “Painted
Church.” This St. Benedicts Catholic Church is
beautiful and the ceiling, columns, and walls
depict Bible scenes painted by Belgium-born priest
Father Velghe.
The second part of the trip will take you to
Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park also
known as “City of Refuge.” You will be guided
through the Royal Grounds and the place of refuge
(Pu’uhonua). It is here that people who violated
“Kapu” (broke the Hawaiian laws) sought to be
absolved of their death sentences (the single
punishment for all crimes.)
But that's not all.... We will follow the aromatic
rich smell of the Kona coffee mill where you can
sample the coffee that Kona is famed for. There is
a small museum here where you can capture a
glimpse of the historic culture that molded the
modern day Kona coffee plantations.

You
will see more dolphins than you can count on this
tour. As you enjoy your exclusive trip along Hilo
Bay's coastline, you can expect to see and
photograph spectacular waterfalls, lots of
dolphins, whales and sea turtles. This happens to
be an area where hundreds of dolphins play, spin
out of the water, bowride and travel alongside the
boat.
Your captain grew up on the ocean with dolphins
for playmates. As much as his tour is
entertaining, it will subtly educate you with
stories of dolphin humor and intelligence. His
tour has been stamped with approval by the
director of Dolphin School, based in Hilo since
1994, as entertaining yet sustaining awareness of
the marine ecosystem.
You will be on a comfortable 26' Craft while you
travel to the famous Hamakua coast to see, if you
are lucky, some huge pods of dolphins. Regardless,
your captain will know where they have been
playing and will make sure you will be able to
watch these creatures spin out of the water, bow
ride and travel alongside the boat. You will make
your way down to Onomea Bay, where lots of sea
turtles have been spotted. While traveling, you
will be captivated by the scenery consisting of
hidden waterfalls, steep cliff sides, and an
abandoned sugar mill.
We think of this as a "little" trip, as
the maximum number at one time is 6 people. In our
eyes, that makes this a special adventure. |

Enjoy
a truly magical experience. Your
day will begin in Hilo at the beautiful Japanese
Gardens named after Queen Lili'uokalani. Here you
can enjoy an awesome view of Mauna Kea, one of the
worlds tallest mountains and an inactive volcano.
The most recent eruption of Mauna Kea was about
3,500 years ago. You will see a gorgeous view of
the Hamakua Coast and if you visit during the
winter months, it is not uncommon to see humpback
whales in the bay.
We then proceed to downtown Hilo, where you will
experience the charm of this historic town. Our
next stop is the fabulous Rainbow Falls whose 89
foot high cascade hides a sacred cave. Just above
Rainbow Falls you can explore under the huge
canopy of a beautiful banyan tree, and a lagoon on
the river to the falls that has become a very
popular attraction |

Volcanic & Cultural Treasures
As
the youngest of the Hawaiian Islands, the Big Island of Hawai'i is an
amazingly active place — literally. Home to the world's longest
continually erupting volcano (Kilauea caldera) and such scenic tours as
the Chain of Craters Drive and Thurston Lava Tube, the desolate beauty
of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park is a must-see for anyone visiting the
island.
But the volcano area
isn't the Big Island's only natural wonder. In fact, since the island is
larger than all of the other islands combined, the toughest problem is
narrowing the options. For truly stunning vistas, take a drive on
Highway 11, which skirts the undulating lava fields of the Ka'u Desert
between Volcanoes National Park and the tiny southern town of Na'alehu.
On the opposite side of the island, the island's lush Hamakua Coast
between Hilo and Waimea towns (Highway 19) hosts a myriad of scenic
attractions, including botanical gardens, 'Akaka Falls and tiny Honomu
Village, whose block-long main street is a window-shoppers' delight. |
