Belize Wildlife Tour            Horseback Riding in Jungles of Belize

Lighthouse Reef Dive Sites

Belize is an adventurer's paradise. There is literally an exceptional activity for everyone. The most difficult part of your stay will be deciding what to do. Tours to the interior of the country include river adventures, birding and exotic animal viewing, and a choice of distintive Mayan ruins. Belize also offers exceptional diving, snorkeling and fishing. We were charmed by our tours to Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye, both nearby islands. Belize is a wonderful surprise and, if you plan it right, you will enjoy every minute. We have installed the best of guides to show you all of this country's assets.
It is important to know that all our tour times operate on LOCAL time. Belize is on Central Standard Time, one hour behind the eastern ports of Florida. Belize does not observe Daylight Savings Time, which means that during the summer months, Belize is two hours earlier than Florida. It is critical that you are aware of this. We recommend that you check the times at www.worldtimeserver.com or call us to verify the time change.

VIEW ALTUN HA WITH CITY TOUR
The contrast of these two highlights will make them shine even more.  Altun Ha, once a model Mayan city, was the link in the Caribbean trade route that ran north through the Yucatán. Its ruins were discovered by quarriers looking for stone to build the Old Northern Highway. Their discovery of 2000-year-old specimens were just the beginning of the uncovering of the remnants of 13 structures surrounding two plazas, including one 60-foot temple now called the Temple of the Sun God.

This adventure is even more enticing once you realize that the location is fairly close to Belize City and situated in the rain forest for an added experience.

The ruins are breathtaking and easily walked. You will get expert guidance as you move from one plaza to the other through a forest path. Those who prefer to wait can find some benches rather than hazard the uneven surface. As some of the areas are easily accessible, they will be able to see a good share of the ruins before making themselves comfortable.

Along with this experience, add a tour of Belize City, the life pulse of Belize. Belize City is teeming with commerce and has adapted its two sides of the river with a connection by the Swing Bridge. You will see the bustle, along with historic Fort George, a variety of embassies, consulate homes, and an area called the Beverly Hills of Belize. Your visit to the Baron Bliss Lighthouse will be accompanied by its story. This and other landmarks from the colonial period will take you back almost 200 years.

Belize City, the largest city in this small country, has much to offer and will surprise you in many ways.

VIEW BELIZE ZOO WILDLIFE TOUR AND BELIZE CITY TOUR
See 'real' Belize with a visit to a natural zoo and a natural city.  For many, a must-see attraction is the Belize Zoo. The ride to your destination will be as interesting as your visit to the zoo. For about 45 minutes, your guide will fascinate you with the stories and facts of this small nation. Once you arrive at the zoo, you are in for a fun experience, whether young or old.

This may be the finest zoo in the Americas south of the US and it has been long recognized as a phenomenal conservation achievement. The zoo opened in 1983 after the filming of a movie called Path of the Raingods. The film's production assistant was left with a collection of semi-tame animals no longer able to fend for themselves in the wild. The opportunity to present native animals for both locals and visitors alike developed into a reality. Now these native animals live in their natural habitat but are monitored and kept healthy.

The theme of "a walk through Belize" takes you on a trail through the pine ridge, the rainforest, lagoons and the river forest. Throughout, you will safely view tapirs, all species of cats, including the jaguars, birds, monkeys, crocodiles and many other animals.

VIEW BELIZE'S BEST BY BOAT
Snorkeling the best spots, shelling the best beach, dining at the best on Caye Caulker.  For those who enjoy the water and the wind blowing through your hair, this day is for you.

This slick, sleek boat will take you spinning out into the ocean for a beautiful ride. While traveling past several other islands, called cayes in Belize, you will get fitted with snorkel gear.

Your ride along the 'Great Barrier Reef' of Belize will allow you an introduction to the vast amount of marine life here. This reef, which is the longest in the Western hemisphere, is often cited as second only to Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

The areas you will visit for snorkeling are famous for different reasons, all unique. Your day includes a stop at the famous Shark Ray Alley, where the friendly nurse sharks and Southern Stingrays will swim alongside you. Coral Gardens, the second stop, will fascinate, especially the many examples of brain coral here.

After snorkeling, you will head to the charming beach of Caye Caulker, a beautiful little island with a sandy white beach. Lunch is there too, at a restaurant well-known for it's great food. Time is allotted for you to enjoy Caye Caulker's shopping and sightseeing as well.

Your tour includes lunch, all snorkel gear including a vest and cold, refreshing non-alcoholic beverages.

After this wonderful day, you will be returned to the tender pier

VIEW SNORKEL THE BELIZE BARRIER REEF
This is truly a Belizean experience. Water taxi to a beautiful island and snorkel at the best.  This trip departs from Caye Caulker, a charming island 25 minutes from Belize City via high speed ferry. (Detailed transfer instructions will be provided on your voucher.) We love this opportunity to travel a little outside the box. Instead of hopping from your cruise ship to a powerboat to a reef and back, we sought out an experience that is failproof but so much fun.

Imagine arriving by water taxi to a long pier (which islanders refer to as a bridge) and, in the distance, a sign welcoming you to the island of Caye Caulker. As you get closer to the white sand beach, you see a golf cart and driver waiting with your name on a card. You hop on board, and the five minute ride along the beach is full of colorful people and properties.

Upon your arrival at this wonderful shop, you are greeted by a friendly smile and a well-organized business. You will be fitted with snorkel gear and readied for a 3-hour tour in waters second only to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Your itinerary will be comprised of three different and famous stops. The first, Shark and Ray Alley, is a narrow passage where sharks and rays and snorkelers swim together, each looking at the other.

Next you will travel to Caye Caulker Channel, part of the Caye Caulker Marine Reserve. This is a interesting and fairly uncrowded place to snorkel and along with some of your regular friends, you will often find some strange worms, including the feather duster worm.

On to the Coral Gardens where you will be dodging around large brain and elkhorn coral. It is amazing that these locations are only 5 minutes apart and 10 minutes from the shore by boat.

Your three-hour snorkel trip will return you to Caye Caulker, where you can roam a bit and choose a lovely beachside restaurant for lunch before taking the water taxi back to Belize City. The total trip time of 7 hours includes the time spent on the ferry
Departures (Local Island Time):  07:45 AM (7 hrs)  08:45 AM (7 hrs)
Pricing:  Charter: $184.00 USD (Priced as a charter for up to 1-4 people)  Additional: $46.00 USD (Priced per person after purchasing charter.)

VIEW BELIZE CAVE TUBING TOUR
This not-so sentimental journey through a unique cave system is enhanced with the best guide around.  Tubing has long been popular at artificial water parks but this is a chance to try the real thing. This series of caves is part of a National Park located an hour outside of Belize City. Your ride through the city and then into the countryside should be considered as entertaining as the tubing itself as your guides open your eyes to Belize.

Once you arrive, you will spend 30 minutes walking the trail to the first of 2 cave systems, tube in hand and flashlight on your head. Now for the easy part. Relax and just float through the cave systems, one leading into the other, viewing the sights as you pass in and out of areas from pitch black to filtered sunlight.

Pools of sapphire blue water carry you on this unbelievable journey downstream. After an hour and a half of tubing, you will have worked up an appetite and you won't be disappointed. A delicious lunch of barbequed chicken (with a special sauce) spanish rice, macaroni salad with garlic bread or homemade flour tortilla, fruit and a muffin with a glass of kiwi lime juice is waiting for you at a great local restaurant. Here you can share your stories before reboarding your ride back to Belize City.
    Departures (Local Island Time):  08:00 AM (5 hrs)  08:30 AM (5 hrs)  09:00 AM (5 hrs)  10:00 AM (5 hrs)  12:00 PM (5 hrs)  02:00 PM (4.5 hrs)

VIEW HORSEBACK AND MORE IN THE JUNGLES OF BELIZE
Not just your average western style ranch in the Caribbean. This is the finest. The interior of Belize is very diverse and the unique combination of jungle, horses and local hospitality makes this tour a truly exceptional way to spend a day in Belize. This destination is 50 minutes away. Your ride is part of the tour, as you travel through Belize City and into the interior. You will see the authentic Belizean culture and be drawn to compare how similar their life style is to your own in some ways, but also how very different. It is an interesting and informative journey. The ride throught the Belizean countryside is a treat in itself.

You will arrive at the Belize River and be carried across to the other side via hand-pulled boat. The uniqueness of your entry to this marvelous ranch across the river sets the stage for your day. This is a gorgeous property. The warmth and friendliness of the owners and ranch hands fit the scenery and you will feel right at home. You will be given a demonstration on riding skills and as you give accurate information to an employee regarding your riding experience, the wranglers will select a horse that is right for you. Each group of 10 or less has 3 wranglers to assist you along the trail if ncecessary.

For about 90 minutes you'll ride through creeks and under palm canopies. You'll ride uphill and down through jungle, pastures, teak plantations and farm land. Everyone will walk and trot with their horse, and if you are experienced, you'll have the opportunity to canter as well.

In addition to the horseback ride, you will enjoy a motor boat ride on the Belize river for about 30 minutes. The ranch maintains a beautiful collection of exotic birds. There are monkeys, parrots and a jaguar. You will be served a delicious lunch with local food on the menu. Feel free to roam about. You might run into John's wife, a very well-known artist who has her studio at the ranch and you will pay a visit to her gallery.

VIEW SCUBA...TWO TANK DIVE ON THE FAMOUS BELIZE BARRIER REEF...FROM BELIZE CITY
Come see why they all say that Belize has some of the world's best dive sites. The dive sites 30 minutes from the Belize harbor are breath-taking...truly some of the best in the world, with abundant life in crystal clear, warm waters. There are hundreds of great dive sites along the reef between Gallow's Point and Sergeant's Caye. Some of the more popular sites are Mermaid’s Castle, Chub Change and Lost Anchor. These are wall dives with magnificent spur and groove formations. In addition to seeing lots of colorful tropical fish and hard and soft corals, you may also see turtles, rays, morays and sharks!

A PADI Divemaster will guide you on two spectacular multilevel dives. We anchor in about 35 feet, descend, and head east to the drop off. Once we reach the drop-off we descend to 60 feet for 20 minutes, then ascend to 40 feet for 20 minutes. Sometimes the dives are a bit longer, sometimes a bit shorter. It depends on how quickly divers consume their air, and how much time we have before we need to get you back to the ship. At the end of each dive we do a safety stop at 15 feet for 3 minutes and have a surface interval of at least one hour during which time we have lunch. We need a minimum of four hours to do two dives, but more time is better since we can have longer dives and a longer surface interval.

Includes guided dive, tanks, weights, all equipment, lunch, soda/water and fruit. You meet us at our shop and we drop you off at the ship.

Pricing:  Per Person: $140.00 USD (Includes all equipment & taxes)  Ride along & snorkel: $97.00 USD

VIEW GROUP TRIP - HALF-DAY SNORKEL TO GOFF'S CAYE
This tiny, sandy caye is filled with Belizeans on weekends who are picnicing and snorkeling.  You will be on your way in no time, as you are picked up by boat right at the cruise pier. The ride through the cayes (pronounced like keys) is an easy one with water that looked like glass. The hardest part is resisting the urge to just jump in, as the Caribbean blue water surrounds you.

This area, called Goff's Caye, is about 45 minutes away by boat. The trained crew can answer your questions but will not be supplying a formal narration as voices tend to get lost in the winds as you travel by power boat. You won't need much explanation, though, if you are lucky enough to see dolphins and manatees. You will definitely see numerous cayes and lots of seabirds as you travel.

This lovely coral island sits on top of Belize's Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven underwater wonders of the world and second in length only to Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

It is surrounded by pristine, crystal clear water which changes in color from light green to darker shades of green, aquamarine, and turquoise. The waters are teeming with a myriad of colorful, tropical fish and the reef is loaded with a variety of live colorful corals.

The guides will offer any guidance and assistance throughout the tour. Snorkel gear will be provided as well. Ladders facilitate your entry and exit from the water.

You are going to be able to experience 30 minutes of snorkeling on the northern part of the island and then you will be transferred to the island itself for a little beachcombing and relaxation. The shelling on these islands is unbelievable and you will have plenty of time to search for your souvenir before moving by boat to the southern side of the island for an additional snorkel.
Departures (Local Island Time):  08:00 AM (3.5 hrs)  09:00 AM (3.5 hrs)
Pricing:  Per Person: $58.00 USD (Minimum of 10 people)  Charter from 1-10: $575.00 USD (Minimum from 1-10 passengers)  Charter: $940.00 USD (Charter from 1 to 20pax)  Other: $47.00 USD (Per person over 20 pax)

VIEW GROUP TRIP - SHARK RAY ALLEY & HOL CHAN MARINE RESERVE BY BOAT
Superb snorkeling and an underwater petting zoo sets this site apart from any other. About forty miles from Belize City, the Hol Chan Marine Reserve is a highlight for any snorkeler. It is an underwater park accessible only by boat and, in Mayan, means "little channel". This narrow channel holds a mulitude of sea life within this passage now, after almost total destruction in the 80s due to overfishing. The Belizean government created a reserve shortly afterward and today it is thriving with life. Vibrant corals and colorful fish are everywhere.

En route to the Hol Chan Marine Reserve is an underwater alley where local fishermen used to feed the sharks and rays that lived there. Soon this became a gathering point for these and other marine creatures and it has now earned the name of Shark Ray Alley. Although the word has spread about this phenomenon and it can be busy, it provides great fun as sharks, rays, and snorkelers jostle each other for food and photos. This has been named by Skin Diver Magazine among the 'seven best animal dives in the Caribbean' and, as a snorkeler, you will be able to rub elbows and fins with the sharks and rays.

A comfortable and safe boat will bring you to this destination. The ride out is only about 10 minutes and you will have approximately 40 minutes at each location to snorkel.

Afterwards, your boat will bring you to a lovely destination that we promise you will not want to leave - Ambergris Caye. You will have an hour and a half to have lunch at one of the many restaurants right on the beach, do some shopping at a variety of shops, and relax.
Departures (Local Island Time):  09:00 AM (6.5 hrs)
Pricing:  Lunch add-on-BBQ: $10.70 USD Charter: $1,300.00 USD (From 1 to 20 pax)  Additional: $65.00 USD (Each additional over 20pax)

VIEW GROUP TRIP - A BOATFUL OF SNORKELERS TO CAYE CAULKER WITH LUNCH
Enjoy the ease of the Caribbean with people who will show you the best of their island. It can be a great advantage when you are traveling with a group. Whether friends or family, the fact that you have a small or large party of travelers allows you to start this trip right from the cruise pier by boat.

This company will operate as your water taxi and take you directly to their location on Caye Caulker. Along the way, you'll pass many mangroves where, although we can't guarantee it, you're likely to see some gentle manatees or playful dolphins. Once you arrive at Caye Caulker, this company's office is at a lovely little setting with a white sand beach across the 'street'. There you will be fitted for snorkel gear and then re-board the boat for a short ride to your first snorkel stop at Shark and Ray Alley in the Caye Caulker Marine Reserve. Although busy, this very famous spot provides great fun as sharks, rays, and snorkelers jostle each other for food and photos.

After Shark and Ray Alley, you'll make your way to Caye Chapel and the Caye Caulker Channel, a nutrient rich area teeming with plentiful coral and tropical fish. Your guide will tell you what you're seeing and will show you the hidden creatures of the reef.

After snorkeling, you will have worked up an appetite and will be anxious to head back to Caye Caulker, for a delicious Belizean BBQ of chicken or fresh fish, fresh tropical fruit and additional accompaniments. Purified water and sodas are included (sorry no diet soda).

After lunch you will have some time to explore Caye Caulker before heading back to Belize City. You will be returned back to your cruise ship pier with lots of memories and perhaps a couple of seashells.
Departures (Local Island Time):  08:00 AM (7 hrs)  09:00 AM (7 hrs)
Pricing:  Marine Reserve Fee: $10.70 USD (Each passenger MUST purchase)  Charter: $1,160.00 USD (Priced for from 1-20 people.)  Additional: $58.00 USD (Per person over 20 people)
