Away from the tourist stops
you'll go, to the studios of the island's most renowned craftsmen. By-passing the big department stores and trendy boutiques, this is a
unique shopping and learning experience of Barbadian art and craft.
You'll be shown the finest craft studios on the island and, from my
own experience, meeting the artists and watching them work is a
souvenir in itself. If you fall in love with a piece, you will always
be brought back to Barbados everytime you look at it.
Step into the studios of some of the island's internationally renowned
craftsmen at Pelican Village, Medford Mahogany Craft Village,
Earthworks Pottery and Shell Gallery. The quality and talent on this
island will floor you.
Truly a tour with a difference. |

Enjoy
Barbados' breathtaking scenery and mischievous little monkeys.Your
tour starts out at Harrisons Cave, one of Barbados's favorite places
to visit. Here you will board a tram for a comfortable ride through
this sub-surface phenomenon is said to be the only one of its kind in
the Caribbean. It wasn't until 1970 that a speleologist name Ole
Sorensen discovered a new and interesting section of the cave, now
called the Crystal Cavern. As surface water seeped through the
limestone rock over millions of years, it carved out this magnificent
series of caverns packed with underground streams and waterfalls,
stalagmites and stalactites.
From Harrison's Caves, you'll drive up the island's green hills and
down to the charming little village of Bathsheba. This sleepy town is
best known for its rough seas and dramatic ocean-carved cliffs. Keep
you camera ready for some unforgettable scenery.
No trip to Barbados would be complete without a visit to the Wildlife
Reserve, home of the green tailed monkey. Walk the footpaths to see
entire families of monkeys, young ones at play, mothers keeping an eye
on things, fathers looking for food. In addition to the monkeys, you
will also view exotic animals, reptiles and birds.
A glimpse of the Morgan Lewis windmill is also on the itinerary |

This uplifting and educational
tour will be of interest to all. Celebrate Barbados' rich
cultural heritage with stops at three locations which will help you
understand this West Indian island's history. The first stop is Tyrol
Cot Heritage Village, a national Trust property. Tyrol Cot onced
belonged to the Adams family, which produced two of Barbados' eminent
statesman. You will receive a guided tour of the main house, built in
1854. This home was frequented by many distinguished Caribbean
politicians between the 1930's and 1960's. In the courtyard, there is
a replica of the 19th Century slave hut as well as several chattel
houses where craftsmen such as weavers, blacksmiths, and
leatherworkers ply their trade.
Next stop is the Springvale Eco-Heritage Museum, located on a 200 acre
former sugar plantation. The owner will personally conduct tours
through his home and organic garden and will explain what domestic
life was like in Barbados during the early 20th Century. You'll find
out how food was stored and prepared, how the laundry was done and how
herbs were used for medicinal purposes.
Your final stop is Chalky Mount, which overlooks scenic Barclay's Park
on Barbados' Atlantic Coast, from an elevation of 750'. Black
Barbadian potters have been making vases, pots, dishes and
"monkey" jugs on this site for over 200 years. You will see
a wide variety of colorful items on display.

Experience the land attractions
as well as those beneath the waves. Your day begins with a visit
to the famous Harrison's Cave. Don your hardhat for a tour of this
sub-surface phenomenon, said to be the only one of its kind in the
Caribbean. This magnificent spot is a series of caverns packed with
underground streams and waterfalls, stalagmites and stalactites. Your
experience will be enhanced with indirect lighting and a comfortable
tramride that takes you through this subterranean scene, called the
Eighth Wonder of the World.
From Harrison's Cave, traveling uphill and down, you'll find yourself
in Bathsheba, a historic seaside spot that is special to all Bajans.
The center of the beach is known here as the "Soup Bowl" and
is a popular spot for surfers. Here and there you will find a little
shop or gallery or something that catches your interest. Your ride
continues along the east coast, known for its pockets of sandy beaches
nestled between large boulders and hidden under craggy cliffs carved
by the Atlantic winds.
Enjoy a delicious lunch of chicken or fish (vegetarian entree
available upon request) at a local restaurant before visiting the The
Barbados Wildlife Reserve. Here you'll observe at close range the
antics of the Barbados green monkey. You will see them in their
natural habitat; young monkeys at play while mothers are feeding their
babies. Other animals are also roaming freely in this setting and you
should come across tortoises, otters, agoutis, and porcupine to name a
few. You need not worry about the pythons - they are caged!

You'll
have your nose in the air when you tour Welchman Hall and Andromeda
Gardens. You will be handled with care on this wonderful tour. As you
cross the island, you can take in the interesting topography. I love
driving through these islands, seeing the villages, comparing the
architecture. You'll be able to do that as you work your way along
Glen Burnie, a wild and rugged region along the east coast, regarded
as one of the last areas on the island with original tropical scenery.
Prime Minister Tom Adams designated this as a nature conservation
area.
The first noted highlight of this tour is the Andromeda Botanic
Gardens. These gardens have been described as "the lovliest, most
ineresting and varied botanic garden in the Caribbean". The
brilliantly colored and deliciously fragrant hibiscus, orchids,
bougainvillea and heliconia will delight even the most discmiminating
gardener. As you meander among the lily pads, waterfalls and streams
running through the gardens to the ocean, you'll see thousands of
plants from throughout the world's tropics, including many rare
species.
The next stop is Welchman Hall Gully, a marvelous property of the
National Trust. The gully is actually a crack in the coral limestone
cap which covers most of the island. The trails wander through stands
of mature trees, giant groves of bamboo, and a dizzying array of
tropical plants and flowers. The steep cliffs and overhead canopy of
leaves keep the gully cool, an added bonus to escape from the heat. If
you're lucky, you might spot a few of Barbados' green monkeys!
You'll enjoy the stunning vistas as you are returned to your ship. |

You'll be handled with
first-class care as you explore the history, heritage, and island
splendor.Sample the culture of Barbados and its most popular
attractions on this breathtaking 4 hour tour, with stops at four major
attractions.
Your first introduction to the island is a stop at the phenomenal
Harrison's Cave, where you can ride an electric tram with a guide and
view the underground world of bubbling pools and waterfalls.
St. John's Parish Church, a lovely Gothic-style church with an
attractive tower, was built in 1836. The doors and windows date from
the 17th-century as they were salvaged from the original structure
after it was destroyed in 1831 by a hurricane. Your guide will point
out the six different woods used inside to construct the pulpit. But
the most breathtaking ingredient to this stop is the view from the
graveyard behind the church.
On to your third stop, the Gun Hill Signal Station, one of a series of
stations built in 1818, contains a small collection of military
memorabilia. Outside, you will see why many weddings take place at
this spot.
Last, in the parish of St. George, you will see the Francia
Plantation. The Francia Great House has been highlighted in many
international travel magazines. It is a must for visitors interested
in heritage, history, and antiques.
Gun Hill and Francia Plantation House. A captivating combination of
history and nature.

We
all had a great time. Eight from my group did
this trip and our guide was great! He was born

well. We took about 6 hours for the entire tour
and it was great that he was in no hurry and did
not rush us. I will highly recommend ShoreTrips

Traveling by land and sea is a
swell idea. This chance to see Barbados both by "Land &
Sea" is a swell idea. It is always a task to decide where to
spend your limited time in the Caribbean and this tour helps to solve
that problem.
Your expeditions begins with a 3-1/2 hour safari, exploring the
country side and eastern coastline. Your jeep driver wil take you to
visit unspoiled places, the hard-to-reach pockets of beauty that
Barbados has to offer.
Soft drinks, juice, rum punch and surprises are served along the way.
Around midday you will board a beautiful catamaran, allowing you to
feel the rush of cool sea sprays. The atmosphere is one of tranquil
relaxation where you can bask in the sun, swim, snorkel and interact
with the turtles, as you sail along the west coast of Barbados.
Again, those Bajans know how to entertain you with a sumptuous buffet
lunch with wine and an open bar served on the sailing cruise. |

paths of Orchid World, home to more than 20,000 orchids. Stop and
enjoy the waterfall or take a rest on one of the many benches provided
througout the property.
Before you know it, you will be meandering through rural St. John. The
focal point here is St. John's Church, a wonderful old mix of
beautiful architecture, interesting history, and a stunning view out

You will fall in love with
Barbados, as we did, as you experience the island's charm.
Sometimes we have to work hard to dig out the special resources on an
island. On Barbados, however, we have the oppposite problem. There is
too much to see, too much to do, too many good people to meet, too
much talent to choose from.
This tour evolved from that frustration. It begins in the heart of the
historic Garrison area on the outskirts of Bridgetown. Located here is
the Barbados Museum, full of galleries that appeal to many interests
like maps, heritage, archeology, research, and crafts. It has been
arranged in a converted British prison and is fascinating.
Next you will move on to the home of the Rum Factory and Heritage
Park. Mount Gay Rum has been in continuous production since 1703,
which makes it the oldest rum in the world. At the plant you will
visit, the fermented and distilled spirits are aged and visitors can
tour the facility. Ready yourself for a taste of this famous nectar.
Your tour moves into central Barbados, opening up beautiful views
across the surrounding hills and over the lush pastures typical of the
inland area. As you take in the scenery, you will never suspect that
your next point of interest will bring you underneath all this beauty,
only to discover more during a tram ride through Harrison's Cave.
You'll travel uphill and down and, all of a sudden, find yourself in
Bathsheba, a historic seaside spa that is special to all Barbadians.
The centre of the beach is known here as the "Soup Bowl" and
is a popular spot for surfers. Here and there you will find a little
shop or gallery or something that catches your interest.
Your ride continues along the east coast, well-known for its pockets
of sandy beaches nestled between large boulders and hidden under
craggy cliffs carved by the Atlantic winds. As you travel along you
will pass, and sometimes stop, to catch a view or take in a famous
landmark.
Before you know it, you will be meandering through rural St. John. The

beautiful architecture, interesting history, and a stunning view out
the back. |

Who could ask for anything more?
After your pickup at the cruise ship terminal, you will be driven to a
little slice of heaven, where the sand is white and the water is warm
and crystal clear. First off, you'll board the glass bottom boat for a
2 hour ride with viewing and snorkeling the undersea wonders of
Barbados. You'll glide over a shipwreck and see the famous green sea
turtles, perhaps even feed them a little raw fish.
Upon returning to the beach, you'll find a beach chair as well as a
wide array of non-motorized beach toys for your enjoyment, including
kayaks, pedal boats, floats, children's water trampolines and slides.
A wonderful Bajan buffet of salad and hot dishes including rice and
peas, baked chicken and fried flying fish, as well as one beverage.

Feel the romance of sailing on
this hand built 57' long sailing catamaran. After a quick ride
into town, you will board our catamaran for a leisurely sail to the
calm, leeward side of the island, made even more enjoyable with coffee
and local sweets. It is always wonderful to have the opportunity to
view the coastline. As the crew anchors the boat, you can feel the
warm tropical breezes fluttering along your shoulders.
Now it's time for a dip in the water with some snorkel gear. The
crystal clear water will allow you to view the underwater world on
this reef and you will see everything! Now, we aren't making any
promises but 95% of the time, you will be able to swim with the
turtles. (Please remember that the turtles have their own agenda and
may not show up everytime!) This first snorkel will be followed by a
buffet barbecue lunch more vast than the ocean! Chicken or fish, corn
on the cob, lots of side dishes, salads, and more are served with a
glass of wine. Then, en route back home, a second snorkel stop will
allow you to view the Berwin Wreck, a shipwreck that occurred over 75
years ago.
Saving the best for last...homemade coconut and banana bread with
coffee or tea. This is a boatful of fun, thanks to its special
touches.

SAIL AND SNORKEL CATAMARAN TRIP |

BARBADOS G. Engholm |

We
thought the trip was wonderful! The price was more
than reasonable and the guides were friendly and
very personable. We could certainly tell that they
enjoyed their work. If was very refreshing to take
the catamaran trip as opposed to taking one of the
cattle boats that the rest of the people took. We
have told so many of our friends about this trip.
We will uses ShoreTrips the next time we travel! |

It's
funny you emailed me because ShoreTrips was on
my "to-do" list. I have to say that I
was really nervous booking online, but I can't
tell you what an absolute GREAT time all 7 of us
had on our sail and snorkel excursion!!!
Honestly, we all agreed that it was the best
excursion we took all week. We had gals ranging
from 15 to 69 and everyone had a blast!! My mom
had never snorkeled before and Steve and Andrew
literally took her by the hand in the water and
showed her "the ropes" and brought a
turtle right up to her not only to see but to
also touch. The crew of that catamaran were all
so fun and accommodating and we continue to talk
and laugh about our day at sea. John was the
perfect host and our comfort, safety, and fun
were of his utmost concern. Can't leave out
Renee...he was terrific too! Although the
ShoreTrip was a little more than NCL's
excursion, we felt that it was worth it not only
because of the yummy picnic, but also because it
was a smaller crowd and the personal attention
was awesome. Thanks again for a great time! |

We
had a great vacation with the kids on Carnival
and with our ShoreTrips! We were leary at first
to book with ShoreTrips instead of with
Carnival, but we were very glad that we did. We
loved our excursion on Barbados! The crew of the
"Sail and Snorkel Catamaran" were
great! We felt that we got our monies worth and
the food was better than expected. One of our
daughters didn't care to snorkel or swim with
the turtles that day, but instead just enjoyed
the cruise and said that it was her favorite
excursion of the whole trip! My son especially
liked the crew and loves the picture we got with
him and the crew. If we come to Barbados again
or know others coming, we will send them your
way. Definately, a trip worth taking. We are
glad that our travel agent suggested ShoreTrips.
Thanks again! |

This jeep safari will take you to
some of the most magnificent spots in Barbados. This expedition
will lead you to the eastern & northeastern side of the island
where you will have a chance to see and stop at some of Barbados' most
magnificent locations. Your experienced driver will take you to areas
both "on and off" the beaten track for coastal views and
commanding scenery.
Barbados was created differently than other islands in the
southeastern Caribbean and has a distinct appearance. Many islands are
heaps of disguised volcanic debris, but Barbados is made of coral. It
has dramatic ocean-carved cliffs dominating the east coast, part of
this tour, and rolling plains inland, which cover up some of its
geological secrets. On the windswept east coast, small strips of sand
and rocky shore are tucked between boulders lying under the jagged
cliffs.
This safari offers many stops allowing you to capture some of these
scenes. Your stops will also include two on the beach and a
opportunity for a swim at lunch. Along the way our guides will keep
you entertained and informed about the island's history and culture.
The hospitable Bajans will spread out a sumptuous buffet lunch with a
glass of wine and soft drinks, juice, rum punch and snacks along the
way.

This half day jeep trip takes you
to the south and south eastern part of Barbados. This is a
stimulating and well-executed tour full of great sightseeing and
interesting stops that truly introduce you to the mesmerizing island
of Barbados. With your experienced jeep driver at the wheel, you will
travel through Gun Hill on the way to Joe's River Forest, an 85-acre
area of woodlands run by the National Conservation Commission that
will allow you to commune with nature.
Bathsheba, a charming sleepy little village, is another stop, with
crashing waves rolling in from the Atlantic. You will get a chance to
cool off at Bath, one of the few 'safe' swimming beaches on the east
coast.
In contrast to the beach, is Codrington College, a theological
seminary dating from 1743, with interesting architecture and gorgeous
gardens. Nearby, you might see the fishermen in Conset Bay, coming
ashore with their catch. Conset Bay is one of a series of protected
bays that you will explore. As you drive the rugged coastline through
Crane, you see the dazzling stretch of white and pink coral sand
beach. This town is called Crane because the ships used to anchor
under the cliffs and cargo would be loaded and unloaded with a crane
on the cliff's top.
There's more, but do you really want to know everything? |

Everyone will love this cruise
that has 'everyting'. This combination of Watersports and
Sailing will give you all the opportunities that tropical water can
offer. This 57'long luxury catamaran takes you first to snorkel over
the wreck of the Berwyn, which sank in about 20' of water over 75
years ago. Lots of brightly colored fish will swim before your eyes,
ducking behind sea fans, corals, and sponges as they flit about.
When ready, you'll move on to dry land, Carlisle Bay, that is. Here
you will find jet skis, kayaks, wind surfers and banana boat rides for
your pleasure. The beach crew will show you how to handle the
"toys" or you can watch others play from a comfortable spot
on the sand.
Late in the afternoon, when you are starving for a snack, a
mouth-watering buffet will be served on board. Complimentary
refreshments are served from start to finish. You'll feel so good as
you admire the coastline as you sail back. |
